Wow Oud suits anyone looking for a genuine oud-based fragrance with real depth, rather than a light, easy-wear interpretation of the note. The saffron opening and powdery orris heart give it a distinct character among Khadlaj's oud offerings, and the resinous, vanilla-softened base gives it strong staying power, making it a good fit for cooler weather or for anyone who wants a fragrance that reads as substantial rather than fleeting.

Product Details
Wow Oud opens on saffron alone, warm and slightly leathery from the first spray. Orris and rose form a powdery, floral heart, before oud, vanilla and leather bring the fragrance down into a dark, resinous base with real staying power.
What Does Khadlaj Wow Oud Smell Like?
Wow Oud is built around a small number of notes, and the opening makes that clear from the start: saffron stands alone at the top. Saffron on its own gives a warm, slightly leathery, faintly medicinal spice character, closer to the smell of the actual spice than a sweetened interpretation of it, and because there is nothing else in the top to soften it, the opening reads as focused and a little intense rather than diffuse. The heart brings in orris and rose. Orris has a dry, powdery, slightly root-like quality, often compared to the smell of face powder or violet root, and it sits well against the warmth of the saffron carrying through from the top. Rose adds a more familiar floral note alongside it, though here it plays a supporting role to the orris rather than leading — the two together give a heart that is floral but dry, rather than sweet or dewy. The base is where the fragrance earns its name. Oud brings the dark, resinous, slightly smoky quality associated with the material, without being sharp or medicinal about it. Vanilla runs underneath it, adding a soft sweetness that keeps the oud from feeling austere, and leather rounds the base out with a warm, slightly animalic depth that echoes the saffron from the opening. The overall shape is spice into powder into dark resin, a composition that reads as warm and slightly serious throughout, with no bright or fruity notes to lighten it.
How Does It Develop Through the Day?
Because the top is built from saffron alone, the opening is direct — there is no citrus or fruit buffer, so the spice character is apparent immediately and stays fairly constant for the opening stretch rather than fading quickly the way a citrus top would. As it does begin to soften, orris and rose come forward, and the shift is noticeable: the sharper, more medicinal edge of the saffron gives way to the drier, more powdery character of the orris, with rose adding a touch of floral roundness. This heart stage tends to run for a good portion of the wear, since powdery orris notes are typically slow to fade. Underneath it, the base notes are already beginning to build, and by the time the orris and rose have softened, oud, vanilla and leather have taken over fully. This is the stage Wow Oud is built for — a dark, resinous oud softened by vanilla's sweetness and deepened by the leather, and because oud and leather are both notes with strong staying power, this base stage tends to be the longest of the three, carrying on the skin well after the saffron and orris have gone. The overall development is a steady move from warm spice, through dry powder, into a lasting dark, resinous drydown, without any bright or fresh interruption at any point.
Is It for Men or Women?
Wow Oud is a unisex fragrance. Saffron, orris and oud all sit comfortably across genders in current fragrance use, and while oud-forward compositions are sometimes marketed toward men, nothing in this particular blend — with its powdery orris heart and vanilla-softened base — pushes it decisively in that direction.
